The Assistant Secretary-General for Africa in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations said Wednesday (Aug. 09) fighting in Darfur was “deeply worrying and could quickly engulf the country in a prolonged ethnic conflict with regional spillovers.”
